Good but I was looking for more...

I've been a bit of a fan of Kodak for the last three years so naturally chose to upgrade to another one but...
Whilst it took excellent, detailed pictures (with the usual brilliant colour reproduction) and had an impressive number of scene modes, there wasn't that 'wow' factor for me.
Immediately after taking pictures the camera alerts you as to whether the picture is likely to be clear or blurry (by a red, amber or green hand on screen). Most of my pictures had an amber or red hand - I had to hold it really still to get green. I just became annoyed after a while.
The flash didn't reach very far either...
The sound quality on the video was rubbish! It was muffled and you could clearly hear the sound of the lens focusing throughout the movie. I know compact cameras aren't designed primarily for video but...
There are better cameras out there...I ended up sending mine back unimpressed. I now own a Canon Powershot A720 which also has 8 megapixels, but offers so much more and a superb picture quality!
Good, but...

I weas given this camera for my 18th birthday to take with me to university. I loved it and thought that the picture quality was great when I took it to Canada that summer. I have a 1 GB memory card and that was more that enought for me. My parents brought it direct from Kodak and so i got a red/pink version of it (they do lots of other colours as well there). However, In the past month or two I have had nothing but problems. You get a years warranty if you buy it from Kodak. At christmas my camera simply stopped working (I was given it July 2007). I had not dropped it or anything! So, I checked the warranty and sent it off to be fixed, claiming that the lens wouldn't retract (which seemed to be the problem). However, after waiting four weeks (over the holiday period with no pictures) I received it back. Lo and behold the flash didnt work!!! I used the troubleshoot on the Kodak website and it worked but then when I tried again it didnt. Hence I have had to send it off again and wait another 4 weeks to get it fixed (for what I hope is the last time).
The warranty ends in May, my worry is that the camera will continue to give me problems after that and I will need to pay for the repairs. Also, although I am happy with the picture quality as a whole it is not as good as other camera's (expecially in darker areas).

The camera is larger than I think it needs to be, surprisingly wide but the finish is good. The controls I found fiddly but at least it does not power up when you sit down with it in your pocket. The images were bright, contrasty and noisy. Great for snaps but not for quality images. What I did like like was the toggle button stick thing where you can adjust the exposure up or done - nice and easy to use and effective, all my other cameras involved you going into endless menus to do that. All an all a nice little compact and it is easy to use. The build quality seems pretty solid too.
Great Camera

Just received this camera today and have been runing around taking pics of everything just testing all the different modes and its awesome, ok so it is my first decent digital camera but its briliant and so simple to use its so simple the instruction book is pretty much useless. Great camera briliant for the price, small, light, looks good, brilliant pics, great settings, i could go on all day.
WELL CHUFFED! :o)
